Doug Bennett

How I can help you

Doug is committed to helping each of his clients to be able to pursue their passions during retirement, while creating a legacy for their family’s future.

What makes me knowledgeable

Doug has spent more than 30 years helping clients retire confidently. He earned a business degree from Ottawa University and also studied at the University of Kansas and MidAmerica Nazarene University.

Getting to know me

Doug and his wife, Angie, have lived in the Lawrence community for more than 35 years. They have three adult children: Kirsten, Nick, and Madi. Kirsten works in physical therapy and is the mother of Rowan and Arli. Nick, a former Kansas highway patrolman, now works with the team of advisors at Fifteen:22 and is the father of baby Kaia. Madi, is a social worker and the mother of Chosyn and Miles. Doug and Angie are involved with mentoring youth from hard places. They also enjoy traveling and attending small venue concerts of old artists from the 70’s and 80’s.


Van Schaffer

How I can help you

Van brings a distinct perspective to helping business owners, individuals and their families pursue their financial goals. Van helps set up various strategies for retirement, savings, distribution and legacy.

What makes me knowledgeable

Van has been working in financial services since 1994. He is continually working to improve his knowledge and studying new planning approaches that can potentially benefit his clients. Van earned his degree from the University of Kansas, where he ran track and field.

Getting to know me

Van remains active in the track and field community, working as a meet official for high schools and colleges. He and his family also help special needs children live dignified and fulfilled lives through speech therapy and group action planning programs.


Malcom Ong

How I can help you

In addition to ensuring the office runs smoothly, Malcom partners with his clients with a goal to enable them to retire confidently and enjoy the fruits of their life’s work.

What makes me knowledgeable

Malcom joined Fifteen:22 in 2006. Prior to this, he ran a technology consulting firm where he developed an aptitude for understanding his clients’ needs and finding appropriate solutions. Malcom has a computer science degree from the University of Kansas and has held multiple roles in the financial industry.

Getting to know me

Outside of the office, Malcom enjoys coaching youth sports, camping and fishing with his wife and three sons. Malcom is passionate about his faith and devotes much of his time to serving in the church. He also provides guidance and counseling for people struggling with debt.


Brent Hoffman

How I can help you

Brent specializes in helping hard-working families plan for and enjoy their retirements through careful goal-setting and prudent investment plans.

What makes me knowledgeable

Brent joined Fifteen:22 in 2010. Prior to that, Brent worked as an analyst and adviser at the largest commodity firm in the world, MF Global in Chicago, Illinois. Brent got his start in financial markets by working in the oil and natural gas business and in 2003, opened a commodity brokerage firm named Grace Capital, Inc. He operated Grace Capital for two years.

Getting to know me

Brent and his wife are fitness advocates and foster parents to two children. He is a Deacon at Morning Star Church and he volunteers time working in his local community to help people who are experiencing homelessness and other forms of injustice.

Doug helps clients develop practical and personalized plans to pursue and maintain their retirement and legacy goals. He is committed to finding creative strategies to challenging issues and other life transitions.

What makes me knowledgeable

Doug joined Fifteen:22 in 2012 after spending 30 years as a business owner, real estate broker, and developer. He has business and biology degrees from the University of Kansas, and brings an extensive network of resources and experience to his clients.

Getting to know me

Doug is committed to serving others. He volunteers at church, helps those experiencing homelessness, and works to help children and families with special needs and mental health issues. He also enjoys spending time outdoors watching wildlife, fishing, camping and hiking.


Nick Bennett

How I can help you

Nick assists Doug Bennett in helping families plan for and enjoy their retirements through careful goal-setting and prudent investment plans.

What makes me knowledgeable

Nick graduated from Ottawa University. He is following in his father’s footsteps of helping guide clients through retirement.

Getting to know me

Nick and his wife, Olivia, live in Shawnee with their daughter Kaia. Nick was raised in Lawrence. He is a former Kansas Highway Patrolman who worked in the Kansas City Metro for four years. Nick played college football at both Fort Lewis and Ottawa University. He enjoys working out, motorcycles, coaching football, and playing golf.
